Afomiya’s Blog

A Glimpse Into My World

Everyone is made up of moments, people, and lessons that slowly shape who we become. This blog is a reflection of my journey so far and the things that continue to inspire and motivate me.

Who is Afomiya and what is her background?

I would like to start off by introducing myself. Hello and welcome to my blog, so my name Is Afomiya Fikadu. I was born in Ethiopia, Addis Ababa on October 22, 2007, from my mother and father. I have one older sister, Michal Fikadu. I started school at the age of two at Future Talent Academy till this day. During my childhood, it was a time of discovery and self-development. I've experienced moments that helped me understand the value of family, education and personal values. Through my journey I have developed a strong sense of self and a desire to keep improving. To give a highlight about my personality I am a very determined, open hearted, kind and God-fearing person. I come from a community who has a strong value for each other which has taught me so much. As a child I was always curious on how things worked. I always wanted to know deeply about everything. Other than that, I was always the most outgoing kid in my family, the one that's the loudest, very kind and one is smiling 24/7.

My Family

Growing up my father and I were very close, aside from viewing him as a father, I saw him as my role model and a friend. He was a significant person in my life. He was a person who I laid on when I felt exhausted, a person who I would go to when I felt overwhelmed and someone who believed in me the most. Losing my father was the most difficult experiences of my life which had a deep impact on my life and personal growth. Even though he passed away his influence did not end, instead it continues to guide my values, strength and determination.

After my dad passed away, my world felt completely different, and I went to live with my sister. During one of the hardest moments of my life, she became my safe place. She took care of me, supported me, and loved me in ways that helped heal the pain I was carrying. She wasn’t just my sister anymore; she became like a second parent and my closest friend. Her love, patience, and support helped me heal and find stability again. I deeply admire her kindness and resilience. I will always be grateful for her sacrifices, her patience, and the unconditional love she showed me. Living with her taught me strength, resilience, and what true family really means.

In my free time, I enjoy activities that bring balance to my life and help me grow as a person. I love swimming because it gives me a sense of freedom that I don’t feel anywhere else. When I’m in the water, everything feels quiet and peaceful, and I can fully clear my mind. Swimming helps me release stress and reconnect with myself, especially after long or overwhelming days. It also pushes me to be stronger, more disciplined, and confident in my abilities. For me, swimming isn’t just a hobby, it’s a place where I feel calm, balanced, and truly myself. Along with that, going to church is an important part of my life, as it gives me peace and helps guide my values. I also enjoy going out, spending time with friends, and creating memories, which allows me to balance my personal growth with fun and social moments.

Now I will be talking about my goals. My dreams and goals are a big part of who I am and who I want to become. I hope to study abroad and work hard to achieve academic success so I can build a meaningful and fulfilling future. They are not just about my future; they are about the people I love and the life I want to honor. I hope to study abroad and work hard to succeed academically so I can build a meaningful and fulfilling life. I want to major in law because I feel called to understand justice, help people, and make a real difference in my community. More than anything, I want to make my sister proud. After my father passed away, she became my guide, my protector, and my source of love and strength. The sacrifices she has made for me inspire me every day, and I want to show her that her care and support were not in vain. At the same time, I want to honor my father’s name by living a life that reflects his values, his love, and his dreams for me. My ultimate goal is to become a strong, independent, and compassionate woman who not only succeeds in her career but also lifts up her family, gives back to others, and carries forward the love and pride of those who have shaped my life.

Looking back at my journey so far, I realize that every experience I’ve had has shaped me into the person I am today. From the love and guidance of my family to the support of my sister, who stepped in during one of the hardest times of my life, I have learned the true meaning of strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love. My faith and the moments I spend at church have given me peace and direction, while my hobbies, like swimming and going out with friends, remind me to find joy and balance in life. All of these experiences have not only helped me grow but have also inspired me to dream bigger and work harder. I am determined to make my sister proud for everything she has done for me and to honor my father’s name by achieving something meaningful and lasting. My journey is just beginning, but I carry with me the lessons, love, and values that will guide me every step of the way. I hope to live a life that reflects gratitude, purpose, and love leaving a positive impact on my family, my community, and the world around me
